Special Olympics Ontario and Open Doorz Club are offering two new programs this fall for children – Active Start and FUNdamentals.

Active Start and FUNdamentals are designed to teach children with special needs the fundamental movement skills and fundamental sports skills they need to enjoy an active lifestyle.

Active Start is for children 2-6 years old and targets skills such as running, jumping, catching, throwing, kicking, striking, balancing and body awareness.

FUNdamentals is for children 7 – 12 years old and focuses on improving the ABCs of movement – Agility, Balance, Coordination and Speed while introducing several common sports. Children are introduced to sport rules and basic tactics. Activities are non-competitive and fun!

Both programs also aim to educate parents and caregivers about the value of sport in their child’s life and aims to expand their networks and support systems.

Location: Open Doorz Club – 10288 Yonge Street, Unit 7, Richmond Hill
Time: 10:00 am – 11:00 am (Active Start), 11:00 am – 12:00 pm (FUNdamentals)
Duration: 12 weeks
Cost: $120.00 (Including HST) – Payable on the first day of the program
