You’re Invited: Special Olympics Healthy Athletes Programs – April 29 2018

Special Olympics Ontario athletes and non-athletes with an intellectual disability are invited to attend two upcoming Healthy Athletes Screenings in Scarborough. The Special Olympics Healthy Athletes program is a worldwide initiative that provides FREE health screenings and education to Special Olympics athletes and people with intellectual disabilities.

The Screenings:

Special Smiles

Special Smiles provides comprehensive oral health care information, including free dental screenings and instruction on correct brushing and flossing techniques to participating Special Olympics athletes and people with an Intellectual Disability. Participants are also provided with FREE preventative supplies like toothpaste and toothbrushes.

Opening Eyes

The Special Olympics-Lions Clubs International Opening Eyes program provides a vision and eye health screening in partnership with the Lions Clubs International Foundation. Led by volunteer vision care professionals, Opening Eyes offers FREE prescription eyewear, sunglasses, and sports goggles to Special Olympics athletes and people with intellectual disabilities.

Additional Information: Attendees taking part in the screenings must have an Intellectual Disability, but are not required to be participating in Special Olympics Programming.
