This Fall the EmploymentWorks program will be rolling out all across Kerry’s Place Autism Services. There are two phases in this program:
Phase 1: Manualized Program
For 12 weeks, up to 8 adult participants with ASD attend 2.5 hour sessions twice a week.
- Structured Learning (2.5 hours): focused on career exploration, employment readiness and soft skills development. Mentors also attend these sessions!
- Job Sampling (2.5 hours): experiential learning for participants and employers in a variety of workplace settings. Participants participate in the morning OR afternoon session.
Phase 2: Labour Market Participation
The final phase of the program is intended to support the transition from weekly programming and job sampling to active job seeking and employment. Approaches will vary by program location but efforts could include linkages to employment agencies for participants, and employee training and human resources support for employers.
Eligibility: Participants must be: out of high school ; 15-64 years old; Legally eligible to work in Canada (they must have a SIN); motivated to seek employment ; safe in a ratio of 1 staff to 3 participants.

EmploymentWorks offers training for adults with autism and other disabilities who want to practice and develop the essential skills necessary to get and keep a job. At the same time, it offers volunteers (mentors) an opportunity to share their employment journeys, and employers’ direct experience integrating individuals with disabilities into their workplaces.
This project is funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Opportunities Fund for Persons with Disabilities Program.
