MNjcc Access & Inclusion – Fall 2024 Programs

SUNDAY

Musical Theatre 

An accessible and creative musical theatre program for young adults with developmental disabilities and/or ASD. Our instructor will work with participants to learn classic and contemporary musical theatre numbers, with a showcase at the end of the program.  
Dates: Sundays, weekly – September 8 to November 17, 2024 
Time: 2PM to 4PM

Disability/Visibility Photography 

Disability/Visibility is a free 8-week community arts project, culminating in a gallery show in February 2025. Youth 18-35 who identify with the experience of disability will work with local peer Toronto photographer to develop photography skills. Participants will explore disability, identity and community in various locations in the city while working in groups and individually. 
Dates: Sundays, weekly – October 20 to December 8, 2024 
Time: 2PM to 4PM

TUESDAY 

Bon Appetit… with a Twist! 

This series, in partnership with Recreational Respite, brings together culinary exploration with nutrition, meal planning, and kitchen safety, where participants will have interactive opportunies to select and prepare nutritious and balanced recipes. Throughout the series, young adults with developmental disabilities will learn about nutrition and meal planning, and develop independence in the kitchen. Takeaways will include a recipe book, kitchen safety tips, meal plan template, and more.   
Dates: Tuesdays, weekly – September 24 to December 3, 2024 
Time: 6:30PM to 8:30PM

WEDNESDAY 

Relax… Craft & Make Art! 

An accessible, relaxed mixed media creative arts program for young adults with developmental disabilities and/or ASD. Join us each week we explore mixed media arts and create your own art pieces. This is more than just an art program – it’s a platform for self-expression and creativity! 
Dates: Wednesdays, weekly – October 30 to December 18, 2024 
Time: 6:30PM to 8:30PM

Everyday Friends: at the J 

Participate in different activities, check-in with your friends and meet new people! This program is designed for young adults 18-35 with ASD and/or developmental disabilities, and open to all! Group is facilitated and in-person.   
Dates: Thursdays, bi-weekly – September 12 to December 12, 2024 
Time: 6:30 to 8:30PM
