Exercise 8.1: Describing Team Member's Roles (Sample Answer)

THINK about a child with ASD at your center.

Try to generate a list of the various professionals involved in his care that you are aware of. List the name, address, phone number and email address for each:

• ECE
• Clinical Psychologist
• Early Interventionist
• Occupational Therapist
• Family Physician
• Specialist Physician
• Social Worker
• Speech-Language Pathologist
• Other (e.g., Physiotherapist, Nutritionist)

Describe your understanding of each team member’s discipline and role in this child’s care. Remember that not all information needs to be shared with everyone, so you may not be involved personally with all of the child’s team.

For example, you may note roles such as

• Assists with communication program
• Assists with learning program
• Assists with behaviour program
• Assists with fine motor program
• Assists with social skills program
• Provides family with resource support
• Assesses skills (e.g., motor, sensory, cognitive)
