Relationship and Sexual Education (Summer program)

Location: 1124 Finch Avenue West (Unit 1)
Dates: July 14th to August 20th      (12 sessions)

The Relationship and Sexual Education program is offered in a group setting. Our facilitators encourage individual participation in group activities during the sessions. The following is a list of topics for each of the 12 sessions:

  • Understanding Emotions: Introduction to the four main emotions (happy, sad, anger and scared), ways to identify emotions in others, emotional expression and how emotions are helpful.
  • Consent and Private vs. Public
  • Relationships: How we interact with new and familiar people in our lives.
  • Dating: Guidelines including what is flirting and knowing what a friend is vs. friendly.
  • Romantic relationships: Setting healthy boundaries.
  • Sex Education:  Male and female anatomy, reproductive organs, pregnancy.
  • Contraception: What are the different types of contraception and how they work.
  • Sexually Transmitted Infections: How they are transmitted and prevention.
  • Pornography: Risks and the legal issues to be aware of when accessing pornography.
  • Sexuality and the Law: The difference between appropriate and inappropriate touch, sexual acts that are against the law, flirting vs. harassment.
  • Social Media: How to stay safe online, when texting and sharing personal information.
  • Healthy Relationships: 5 steps towards having a healthy relationship and the importance of communication.
