Schedules can be used to help your child understand and anticipate what is going to happen. They can help to decrease anxiety of the unknown and improve understanding and cooperation. Schedules can provide information about:

  • what regular activities are happening
  • what is the sequence of events to come
  • what new activities will occur
  • what is not happening
  • when it is time to stop one activity and start another

Different types of schedules include monthly, weekly, daily, or “mini-schedules” that break down a specific activity.
