Season opens for accessible sailing

Able Sail Toronto’s 2024 Season Opener was held Sunday, June 2nd, 2024, celebrating its 5th anniversary. The wheelchair accessible docks, adapted Martin16 sailboats and technology such as windlasses, lifts, davits and specialized seating were demonstrated.
Goals
- Provide safe sailing opportunities for people with disabilities
- Facilitate rehabilitation and social integration for children and adults with disabilities
- Provide opportunities for individuals with disabilities to develop sailing skills and attain personal goals
- Enable high-level quadriplegics and others with severe mobility impairments to sail independently
- Above all help members strive for create independence and quality of life
Membership
- Annual membership fee is $50
- Membership provides you with the right to reserve sailing outings. Sailing sessions are $15 per sail and are 2hours in duration
- Sailing times are available from 10am – 5pm Monday through Friday
- Our sailboats are Martin 16 two person sloops specifically designed for people with disabilities
