LUZIA is a combination of the Spanish words luz and lluvia, meaning light and rain. Throughout the show, water has its own narrative force. There’s a 14-metre-high rain curtain. Plus, a pool on stage. Even the Aztec goddess of water makes an appearance. As artistic director Gracie Valdez puts it, “The water itself is like its own member of the cast.”
