The Supportive Home Share program (SHS) is looking for families/individuals (Associates) to share their home and support an adult with an intellectual disability. As an Associate, you would encourage personal growth and independence while providing a caring and supportive home, supervision, and skill development to the individual. Associates receive training, financial reimbursement and ongoing support from Community Living Toronto caseworkers.

*The Supportive Home Share Program is a Community Living Toronto supported initiative. Individuals are expected to uphold our mission: Community Living Toronto changes the lives of people with an intellectual disability by giving them a voice, and supporting their choices where they live, learn, work and play.

Individuals interested in becoming an Associate are required to:

      • complete a screening process
      • provide a healthy and safe living environment
      • work in co-operation with the SHS caseworker to assist the individual in developing to the best of his/her ability and fulfill his/her dreams
      • encourage the individual to socialize and to participate in daily activities at home and in the community

Any families or individuals looking or planning for residential options may want to consider SHS. It is an opportunity for adults who:

      • prefer to live in a family home setting
      • want to live independently but require some guidance and direction with aspects of their daily life
      • are participating in day activities such as work, school, volunteer or a day program

If you are interested in becoming an Associate or exploring the option for a family member, please contact:
