I am a 32-year-old woman with Down Syndrome looking for a new roommate to share my 2-bedroom 2-bathroom apartment. (I had a very sweet roommate for a year, but for medical reasons she had to move out.). An ideal roommate would be another female of a similar age range who would like to live independently, with some support coming in 2-3 times a week to help with things like grocery shopping, cooking, budgeting.
A little bit about me. I enjoy singing and dancing, and music, especially pop, rock, spiritual and musicals. I enjoy YouTube. Before COVID, I was busy all week at a day program, in which two days a week I worked in a professional kitchen. I also volunteered at a childcare centre, and I love working with kids. I also like swimming, basketball and drama. I love to cook and enjoy preparing meals, especially pasta, Greek salad and Pad Thai. My favourite food is sushi. I take the TTC to get around and am comfortable being out on my own in my community.
I am an independent person, and I keep working on my daily living skills, but I need support with some household duties to live on my own. I would be happy to share that support with my new roommate.
My ideal roommate would be someone who is friendly, kind, good-natured, considerate, a good communicator, able to respect boundaries, and is as excited as I am about living independently together with a roommate. I want to share a warm, safe and friendly living space with my roommate.
My apartment is just steps to the St Clair West subway station, to shopping and to parks. The apartment is bright and modern with a concierge, a gym, pool and garden. The available bedroom has its own 4-piece bathroom, big windows and closet space.
I’m really excited to find a roommate to share support and live together happily. If you want to know more about this opportunity, please contact Benjamin at brubin@mindlaw.com
