On Saturday, April 12, 80 people from Community Living Toronto were invited to attend an intimate ballet performance by Apprentices from The National Ballet of Canada through the National Ballet’s YOU dance program – an initiative designed to introduce students to the world of dance through workshops, performances and interactive discussions.
Community Living Toronto’s Ambassador Jenna was one of the individuals lucky enough to attend.
Here is what she had to say about the performance: On Saturday April 12 2014, I invited my friend Dylan Harman Livaja to the National Ballet You Dance performance with me. The You Dance Performance introduced Young Adults and Youth with disabilities in different organizations like Community Living Toronto, Kerrys Place, Genava Center for the Autism, Renna, Vita, and Montage Support Services to the Ballet.
Saturday’s performance included dances from Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Beginnings and Nothingness and a lot more. My favourite performance was the Spanish Ballet dance, but I really liked all of the dances.
At the end of the performances, each individual Ballet Dancer gets to receive a flower from the audience and the audience was able to take their picture on stage with a dancer.
It was a great day to see a Ballet performance.
