Last week I visited the foster club I met jeff cook he organizes and sets up all the foster club events and activities. There are facalitors and volunteers and 30 participants. They have group dissections and share information about the foster club fun activities. The foster club is taking the participants to Centerville this summer. I noticed there were baby’s in the drop in center. The parents wanted to teach their older children to call uncle jeff cook the foster club feels like home to them.
Anyone can come to the foster club drop in center program’s to play video games like wii bowling, wash movies, they have a snack bar they also do a bbq for the participants and their kids and infants. They can find a trainer or a Staff member if any of them needs assistants and support.
The foster club is like their home with disabilities they are two volunteers and Facalitators at the foster club community living Toronto adult protective services supports the foster club programs also they have donations and fundraising.

Hello My name is Jenna Martinuzzi The United way program are partners and supports Community Living Toronto. How Did Community Living Toronto help me? After I finished Humber College Community Integration through Co-operative Education. I really enjoyed the CICE Humber College Program I never made any friends in college after high school. I studied Early Childhood Education program it is a two year course that I really wanted to become an Early Childhood Educator.
I am really happy about volunteering with the York Region District School Board at Wilshire Kindergarten class room. I also got a volunteer award at their special breakfast award’s for their volunteer’s at Wilshire Public School.
I am also an employee of The City Of Toronto Parks and Recreation Summer Preschool camp. I get to help with organizing the Preschool program’s in the summer fun activates the children are 3-6 years old. I also worked as an Usher at the Toronto Center for the Arts though the Youth to Work program that gave me this part time placement to work. The Toronto Center for the arts is closed until September 2012.
I am a Community Living Toronto Ambassador in the Public Relations Department I do a lot of Fundraising in my office with all the Public Relations Staff Members they are very nice and supportive to me. I also plan and work at the Community Living Toronto Events.
I am also the New Spinclusion Facilitator in the North York Region of Community Living Toronto and Spinclusion is a game that Community Living Toronto facilitators that take’s facalotors into different schools and get children talking about inclusion, being welcoming and accepting other people with differences. I go to different schools with Mia M.C Cowen and we play the game with children from Grade 2 up to high school. I help set up the game, I get all the papers together and ask questions. An example of a question is how can a person in a wheelchair play basketball and how can you make sure the person is included. I help with the friendship tree with the younger children and with the older children I help with the blind fold game I also help to clean up at the end.
August 14, 2012 at 12:59 pm #18007THE NORTH YORK REGION COOKING PROGRAM FOR ALL ADULTS AND TEENAGER’S WITH DISABILTY’S!!
My friend Amy Glass and I wanted to join the North York Region cooking class. We talked to our Mom’s and both of them signed us up by contacting Wendy Dyke. The North York cooking class is about learning about simple nutritious meals so the participants can learn to cook healthy and balanced meals with their Friends and Family at home. This course is goal focused with participant input, hands on learning, Canada’s food guide, and food and kitchen safety. All participants need to bring some of their own kitchen supplies.
And also before every participant comes to the North York region kitchen they need to wash their hands before cooking or preparing food. We welcome all adults with a disability in this cooking program 18+ and they need follow up with family or Support workers to practice what they learn in class. Each week participants helped to prepare foods by cutting vegetables and meat. We also learned to use the grill, the stove and oven to cook. Afterwards we all cleaned up. Everybody talked to each other about what they want to cook each week. We voted for what we wanted to cook every week and the meal that got the most votes was what we cooked.
The North York Cooking class ran every Wednesday from 4:30 to 7:00pm April 4 to May 30 2012. On the last evening we invited parents, family and friends to join us for dinner. I felt great about that evening because I helped to prepare for the meal. It was all of us that decided to invite guests on the last evening to celebrate learning to cook meals. Everyone enjoyed themselves and said the food was great.
The location is at North York employment training services kitchen, 1122 Finch Avenue West, Unit 16. Anyone interested in taking this cooking program is welcome come to join. It’s a lot of fun learning new cooking skills. You can contact Wendy Dyke if you are interested. There is an application form to sign.
Contact Wendy at 647-729-3627 or email wdyke@cltoronto.ca
See you soon in 2013/2014 for our next cooking session.
