I am on the http://www.ttc.ca website Just thinking about a great idea to share on connected families. Is there a way that Community Living Toronto Staff/Volunteer teaching young adults who have a disabilty how to become indepent riding the Subway/TTC from their programs or work? Also back to their group homes.
Starting April 2nd, North York Council is running a TTC Readiness Program for individual 18 plus who have an intellectual disability. This is an introductor course and while it will not result in participants being able to use TTC without support, it is a starting point for introducing individuals to TTC, public and pedstrian safety. It runs evenings at the North York Employment Training site, from 6 to 9 pm. There are 6 Wednesday evenings of in class instruction and 2 Saturday afternoon in-field group sessions.
For more information about the program and for an application contact Wendy at wdyke@cltoronto.ca
