Sunrise Developmental Support Services

Sunrise is a registered nonprofit that supports youth and adults diagnosed with developmental disabilities in the Durham Region. We offer a Day Program, a Recreational Program and a Community Program.

Our Day Program provides a positive and accepting environment for individuals who require social and learning opportunities after graduating from High School. With a participant-to-staff ratio of 4:1 or better, our Day Program creates a safe and supportive environment where all individuals feel welcome. Individual programs within our Day Program include Hot Lunch, Literacy, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Fitness, Life Skills, Humanities, Baking and Fun Fridays.

Our Community Program operates three days a week providing community-based day services. Our Community Program includes structured programs and planned community outings that encourage the use of public transportation and develop skills around navigating the community safely while having fun.

Our Recreational Program offers evening and weekend events that provide unique recreational opportunities for our members. They can attend various events such as Bowling, Dances, Dinner and Movie Nights, Hikes, Cabin Retreats and more. Our ability to connect our members with peers and allow them to experience events or activities without barriers they might normally experience sets us apart from other like-minded organizations.
