Empower Simcoe’s “Grow Your Own Way” program is a fun way to learn gardening, running on Tuesdays from May 21st to July 23rd. You’ll get your hands dirty planting, weeding, and picking vegetables, while also learning cool stuff like how to make compost, tell apart helpful and harmful bugs, and the best times to plant your seeds. This all happens at 40 Fraser Court, Barrie, from 10 am to 12 pm. You’ll hear from special guest speakers and talk a lot with others in the program, which will help you feel more sure of yourself in the garden. It’s important to remember to bring things like sunscreen, a hat, and water since all the gardening is done in beds on the ground.

The best part of the program is making a meal from the veggies you’ve grown, showing off what you’ve learned from seed to food. This hands-on experience is perfect for beginners or anyone who wants to get better at gardening. You’ll leave with not just a full belly but also the know-how to start your garden. Remember, though, we don’t have raised garden beds, so all the fun happens at ground level.
