It’s hard to tell a life story in a few sentences. Bravo to you and your son for working so hard to help him with his independence.
My daughter doesn’t live on her own, she has a live in support worker. She could never survive in a shelter. You must have been worried out of your mind.
While I was reading your son’s story I thought of the perfect place for him to learn about relationships and friendships. I don’t know if you have heard of the Vita Center. It is on WEston Rd at Steeles. They have several life learning programs called Learning You. It is run by Dave Hingsburger who is absolutely amazing. The number is 416 749 6234 x 238. It helps them learn to empower themselves, about how to be treated or treat others.Hi Bonnie
Thank you for your response, I didn’t see this one until now because it went onto a new topic therefore didn’t automatically generate an email to me!!! LOL technology …. I still have a lot to learn about that! You are right, I was very worried and to make it worse the police were telling me to leave him there because of his rights as an adult! Anyway thank God he eventually accepted our help to find better living conditions.
Amazing I am sitting here with my son reading your email and he is so excited to learn more about Vita Center, I will call Dave on Monday and find out how Emmanuel can be part of the program. I also have info on programs starting in summer at different centers of Dramaway he was also excited about that.
It can only can get better from now onwards!!
PhillipaBonnie I have just realized that I responded to you from my son’s profile…….. sorry I didn’t mean to confuse you, we had him set up and today I was showing him how to log onto the website and read some of the encouraging stories. Tinashe is his other name in our language also means Emmanuel “God is with us”
I recommend you should check out the Dramaway Website http://www.dramaway.com Also has Hip-Hop Dance Classes. We also a more people to sing up for Rhythm Works.
