I’m posting this message again, in case it was not received the first time…I’m wondering how the change in oversight from FST to DSO-TR is going. Have you heard anything from families? Is SSAH now going to have a community participation focus?

I have not heard anything from families regarding the merging of SSAH and Passport funding. Nor does there seem to be clear answers as to what funding will look like for individuals who have been receiving SSAH funding for several years and also attend a day program….

Haven’t heard anything regarding the change from FST to DSO-TR…last I heard, FST was going to be overseeing everything and they didn’t know how that was going to be possible! As for Passport & SSAH merging, I haven’t heard anything lately…waiting for families to get their letters as April 1st approaches. My question is how will it work for individuals who have SSAH and a funded day program space…will they be affected? My understanding is the new Passsport funding will cover community participation and respite.

Let’s stay in contact with each other as Passport and SSAH merges. Ana at FST has talked about bringing together the Passport Task Group together one more time to update everyone on this merge. I will follow-up with her.

Are you offering any of fee for service activities to families? Community Junction has a new booklet of activities out for the winter. What about Creative Village and the Victoria Village Hub?

Is the Community Junction booklet available on SharePoint? Does the Victoria Village Hub also have a booklet of activities…I’ve only ever seen the monthly calendar?

Community Junction calendar of activities is not online, though Michelle MacDonald (Supervisor) is exploring a link to Community Living Toronto’s website. Please contact Michelle to access the calendar for now. There’s a lot of great fee for service activities there. We really need a link to the various calendar of activities at Community Junction, Creative Village, Foster’s, Victoria Village Hub. It would certainly be helpful for you to have access to that information for anyone with community participation funding. I will follow-up with Public Relations.

What types of activites do you find people with funding are looking for?

    That would be great…thanks!
People are looking for support with work/volunteer and we are connecting many with their local community centres and using Parks & Rec activities a lot.

I know individuals with passport funding are accessing classes at Creative Village Studio. I have also been sharing with individuals/families information on the Junction activities.

Kimberly-I can send you information on the sessions currently running at the Junction if you need it.

I echo Kimberly’s comments about what people with passport funding are looking for….volunteer opportunities and recreational activities.

With respect to renewals of SSAH funding and how it is merging with Passport, I have not heard anything concrete from parents about receiving renewal information as of yet.

My son receives SSAH through Peel-he will remain as he is still a child. Instead of the usual renewal letter we get in the fall, he received a letter indicating that there would not be a renewal application required for 2012_2013 year. Instead, he would receive the same amount he previously had for the next fiscal year. Last week, he got a letter saying their offices were moving and there are new SSAH officers assigned. So, obviously in Peel they too are merging services moving forward.

Yes, all the messaging about Passport and SSAH for adults merging together is only for 2012-13. No news on what will happen for the 2013-14 year.
