- NEW - Paving the Path to Work (Peel)

Paving the Path to Work is a free, 6-week pre-employment program designed to empower youth and adults with disabilities as they explore the world of work and volunteerism. Presented by March of Dimes Canada (Peel Region), this program serves as a gentle and supportive first step for individuals starting to think about work and volunteering.

It is ideal for those who would benefit from an introduction to workplace expectations, soft skills, and community engagement in a safe, inclusive environment. Participants will build confidence, gain valuable skills, and take meaningful steps toward their future.

Program Highlights

  • Flexible Format: Available in both in-person (Peel Region) and virtual formats.
  • Small Class Sizes: In-person sessions are limited to 6–8 participants to ensure personalized attention.
  • Curriculum: Focuses on career/volunteer readiness, online safety, social media presentation, and virtual workplace tours.
  • Real-World Experience: Includes the possibility of an in-person volunteering day or site visit.
  • Certification: Certificates are awarded based on active participation and attendance.
  • On-Site Option (For Organizations Serving Peel Residents): We can deliver this program on-site at your organization upon request. The delivery format, including days and hours, can be customized to fit your organization’s schedule.

Eligibility and Suitability

To ensure the best experience for all participants, please review the following criteria:

This program is suitable for you if you:

  • Are eager to learn more about the world of work and volunteering in a supportive environment.
  • Enjoy collaborating and interacting with peers in a friendly group setting.
  • Can travel independently.
  • Are independent in most self-care skills.

This program is not suitable for you if: 

  • Requires ongoing personal support or assistance with daily self-care that cannot be accommodated within a group setting.
  • Requires escort or assistance for travel to and from the program site.
  • Presents behavioural support needs that consistently require one-to-one staff intervention.
