Thriving Through Change - A Life Skills Group

Verified

Thriving Through Change: A Life Skills Group is designed for young adults (16+) on the autism spectrum or with other developmental differences to explore and practice key skills needed for living on your own (or being more independent while living with others), and managing the many changes in our world.

Group themes include:

  • coping with stress and anxiety
  • creating a healthy sleep routine
  • staying (or becoming) physically active
  • managing time (creating structure to your days, being on time and keeping appointments, taking care of yourself)
  • healthy eating

Important things to know:

  • This group is offered online.
  • There are a limited number of spots to ensure everyone can participate and get the most out of the group!
  • An occupational therapist will be facilitating each session
  • Involvement of a social support (e.g. family member, friend) between groups is encouraged to increase practice of skills between weekly sessions.

Timing: Exact dates TBD. Group will likely run next in late fall 2022. Group runs for 8 consecutive weeks, once per week, in the evening. Each group session is 1.5 hours long.

Fees: $725 for eight-1.5 hour group sessions run by a registered occupational therapist.

Funding: You can use Passport Funding for this program. Or, if you have extended health benefits that cover Occupational Therapy, you may be able to receive fudging through your insurance provider.
