Announcing the launch of the new NTG Canada website

We are excited on this occasion to announce the launch of the NTG–Canadian Consortium’s website. For us, this launch is another meaningful step toward meeting the goals of the Consortium: strengthening dementia-capable supports for adults with intellectual disabilities, and advancing the knowledge, tools, and connections that help people live well.

Dementia is a difficult journey for most people—a road not to be taken alone or in isolation. Raising awareness, providing information, and actively supporting each other are key to improving dementia care across Canada in ways that fully include adults with intellectual disabilities affected by dementia, their families, and the staff who support them every day.

This new website was built with you in mind—front-line staff, supervisors, agency leaders, educators, and community partners. It offers clear pathways to training, practical tools, and curated resources—organized for adults with an intellectual disability, family caregivers, and service providers—so you can quickly find what you need and put it into action. You’ll also find access to Canadian guidance and education, including resources that support stronger community dementia care, as well as information about the NTG Canada curriculum and upcoming workshops.

Just as importantly, the website is one means for us to share ideas and concerns across provinces and across the country. It will continue to evolve and change to meet unmet or new needs, and we welcome your input as it grows.

We are also deeply grateful to the many people behind the scenes who helped tremendously to build this site. Their guidance and support were unwavering. Sharon Magor is an all-star amongst them.

Please join us in celebrating this milestone—visit ntgcanada.org, explore and share the resources with your teams, and help improve lives well-lived over the course of dementia.

VIP INVITATION – ATC is Going to Watch CHICAGO the MUSICAL!

Hello members, Families and Friends,

CHICAGO is still the one musical with everything that makes Broadway shimmy-shake: a universal tale of fame, fortune, and all that jazz, with one show stopping song after another and the most astonishing dancing you’ve ever seen.

In the whirlwind Jazz Age, two of the Cook County Jail’s most notorious murderesses—vaudeville star Velma Kelly and chorus girl Roxie Hart—become fierce rivals as they compete for headlines amidst a media frenzy.

Broadway’s longest-running musical has been dazzling audiences for over 29 years, and after more than 10,000 performances, 6 Tony Awards®, 2 Olivier Awards, and a Grammy®, we’re just getting started.

Come on, join us as we head to CHICAGO, We’re it’s hotter than ever.

WHEN: Wednesday, April 8th at 1:30 PM
WHERE: Ed Mirvish Theatre, 244 Victoria Street, Toronto ON, M5B 1V8
COST: $125.00 Non-Member Price: $150.00
Registration Deadline: April 6th, 2026

Creative Options for Home [webcast]

One of the more challenging aspects of future planning for a family member with a disability is creating and exploring options for home. Being prepared, and seeing how others have approached it in creative ways can offer both clarity and inspiration.

Join us on April 14th at 7pm EDT for the Creative Options for Home webcast with housing expert, Kelly Casey, as we explore some of the innovative ways that families are supporting their family member in having a home of their own and one of their own choosing.

What’s in it for you?

  • Overview of the steps needed to develop a creative, individualized housing plan.
  • Stories from families who have implemented creative housing solutions.
  • Overview of the DSO’s housing toolkits and housing navigators.
  • A live Q&A session to address your questions.

Panelist:

Kelly Casey

With over 30 years of experience in the area of Developmental Services, Kelly’s extensive clinical knowledge in developmental services, dual diagnosis and autism have provided her with the skills to support individuals and families in the development and implementation of their person directed plans and individualized residential models.
