Welcome Policy for Parks and Rec
As of Sept 1, 2012, there is a change in the policy. Instead of 1 program per session, plus 2 weeks summer camp, it will now be a dollar based assistance.
For children and youth 1 to 24 years the amount is $455
For Adults 25 and up its $212.00

        Thanks Bonnie for this update.
For those who do not know what the Welcome Policy is…. The City of Toronto’s Welcome Policy provides a fee subsidy to help low income individuals and families who live in Toronto access City-operated recreation programs. If you are approved for Welcome Policy, you will receive an annual financial subsidy that can be spent on any of the wide variety of high-quality recreation programs offered by the City throughout the year.

And just a reminder for those parents whose children have crossed the threshold into official adulthood: their income, not your income, is taken into account for the Welcome Policy. If their only income is ODSP, they fit the criteria for the Welcome Policy.
