The question has to be asked “Is it a case of they don’t know what the appropriate clothing is or They know what is “appropriate” clothing is and choose to wear what they want?”
May 27, 2015 at 2:02 pm in reply to: Funding :Thinking Outside the Box – Continuing the discussion #18322Thanks you for a very positive, constructive meeting. The three presenters had great ideas and a proven record. It shows how a group of people, getting together over coffee to try and do something different can work.
It was also nice to hear our kids being talked about in a positive light.I’m surprised that none of the community participation fee for service people aren’t jumping all over this. A customer if you will.
Your son can apply to the cities Welcome Policy for any of the parks and rec programs. He can join any of them, both inclusive or segregated programs. The Welcome policy will give him 1 or 2 programs a year, depending on the price of the program.
Most of us have our children in different programs during the week. Some also volunteer.
In May the DSTO has a fair that hosts all the agencies and you can talk to them about their programs. Check the home page for the flyer with details on time and place.
Also look under the community participation page on this site and they have private day programs. You might have more luck with them, as often they have spaces.
Good luckMarch 31, 2015 at 1:43 pm in reply to: Can adults with a disabilty can be able to pass their drivers lessons? #18316Hi Jenna

March 1, 2015 at 5:18 pm in reply to: looking for suggestions on free/low cost transportation options #18309Wheel trans doesn’t provide transportation for people with developmental disabilities, only physical disabilities.
Transportation is very expensive. My only suggestion is to sign her up for a program and on the first day talk to the staff to see if they would hand out a note from her to see if anyone could help with the driving. Perhaps on the days she can drive she could return the favour.Hi Sue
Finding a partner can be difficult, If you check out the website sralternatives.weebly.com
there are advertisements for roommates and job postings for workers. Also under the heading More…. thoughts from a parent there is a lot of practical information about planning, budgeting, networking etc.
My daughter has lived in her own home with the same roommate for 5 1/2 years now. They are both doing very well.healthstudies@centennialcollege.ca
Centennial College has a course on physiotherapy. Contact them and see if they would post an ad for a job.
This has been a great opportunity to share with other families. Too bad more families didn’t take advantage of it.
my plan at work covers Jenny as well. I just needed a form signed by the doctor.
The teacher just calls 3 1 1.
The family doctor can refer, or if there isn’t a family doctor the teacher can contact public health and they can come to the school and see the child and get things set up.
Hi Ross
does your son have the Welcome policy with Parks and Rec? He can get some activities for free. Also check out the various community centres, some of them have free programs as wellYou should check out http://imaginerespiteservices.com. They are a community based program, keeping it to small groups and do volunteer work in the area. They also have evening and weekend things to do.
What were the outcomesk7mcmaho
